Fight enemies, defeat the boss, and escape alive.

Star Brawler 2 is a game made for the Raylib Game Jam. 

The theme of the jam is "That was close", so we made a melee space shooter, again.

How to play:

  • Arrow keys to move.
  • A - Basic attack
  • S - Laser
  • D - Flare attack
  • F - BFL

Your main combat tool is the counterfield, the green sphere surronding your ship. The counterfield can absorb energy from enemy's attacks that passes through it's radius. The ship's energy is both your life bar and the power source used by your special weapons: Laser, Flare, and B.F.L. Manage your ship's energy through the Auric armada, destroy their mother ship, and make it out before being engulfed by the golden flames!

Loved this one!  Once I figured it out, there's quite a lot of depth and skill involved.  Graphics and level design work is amazing for a jam.  Pretty harsh to reset completely on death (I didn't realise lasers were insta-kill at the end), but still bothered to try again to complete it!

Yes, the game is harsh, it was designed to resemble old arcade shooters, with levels and 3 total lives. But because of that we had to add the "Easy" and "Medium" difficulties,  it was to hard, they only reduce enemy damage and increase initial energy, but maybe it could also remove the reset on death part.
